COLORADO’S MOST DIVERSE CAMPUS CELEBRATES SPRING GRADUATION IN STYLE
DENVER, Colo. (April 27, 2015) – Colorado Heights University will host its 2015 Spring Commencement on Wednesday, April 29th, beginning at 6:00pm. The ceremony will feature graduates from the school’s MBA, BA and Intensive English programs. Approximately 100 students are expected to graduate this spring. The event will be held in the CHU Bonfils Theater at 3001 S Federal Blvd, Denver, CO.
Colorado Heights University, located on the historic Loretto Heights campus, is a proud multi-cultural institution and the graduating class features students representing 27 different countries, including Mexico, Vietnam, Iraq, Colombia, Tajikistan and Ukraine, along with the United States.
Event organizer (and former CHU student) Mavdzhuda “Majik” Abidzhanova expects a memorable ceremony. According to Majik, “We take great pride in celebrating the accomplishments of our graduates. With students from over 50 countries on our campus, we know that there is a high level of commitment and dedication in attending school so far from home. That’s why we work so hard to make the event a true celebration.”
The event’s Keynote Address will be delivered by Judge Kerry S. Hada, a Japanese-American who served as an Army Ranger during the Vietnam War before entering the field of law. As a strong advocate for diversity, Judge Hada has been a featured speaker, guest lecturer and panelist at dozens of events in Colorado. Students scheduled to speak include twins Diliya and Liliya Khaibullina (Kazakhstan), Carlos Sanchez (Mexico) and Amir Turkpour (Iran).
Religious Partners help Promote CHU
Some Denver area churches are taking part in an awareness program to help their members learn about the CHU English program. Many have agreed to post banners and signage on their property to build awareness with their congregations. Says CHU Executive Director for Marketing & Admissions Pam Smith, “Learning English can make such a difference in a person’s life and many people just don’t know how to get started.” If you are a religious leader and would like to help spread the awareness you can call 303.937.4225.
Russia and Tajikistan visit planned for CHU
“We’ll be attending the Moscow Education Fair and are planning to connect with embassies, universities, education organizations and students in both countries to spread our story and create partnerships”, said Marina Nochevnaya, Assistant Director of Admissions. A similar trip to Mongolia took place last May that resulted in the creation of a new 2 + 2 Bachelor’s program where students complete their last 2 years at CHU and earn degrees from both institutions. Six Mongolian students are taking part in the new program this fall with additional students accepted to attend in subsequent semesters. “We’re excited to represent our university to let students and potential partners know what we have to offer”, said Majik Abidzhanova, Administrative Analyst for CHU. Both women are CHU graduates and are originally from Eastern Europe. Marina grew up in Ivanovo, Russia and Majik is from Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Doug Bjerkaas, CHU’s Chief Operating Officer believes in the purpose of their trip; “Many of our programs become stronger because of the partnerships we forge with universities in other countries. I’m expecting Marina and Majik to make great progress during their trip.”Anyone interested in an educational partnership with CHU can contact email@example.com.
